Canine Portraits & Other Subjects
I'm please to say that I am now offering Canine portraits and other subjects! Special introductory pricing of $200-250 per approx. 10x12" portrait with 1-2 subjects. I offer two types of portraits: colored pencil on 100% cotton hot press watercolor paper and colored pencil on Grafix drafting film. See below for examples. A 50% deposit will secure a spot in my books. I am happy to work with people to achieve their dream portrait of their beloved pet. Pricing for other portrait sizes is available upon request. Available sizes range from 5x7" to 22x30".
"Biscuit" (Yellow lab pup)
Short-haired breeds with straight fur are ideally suited to colored pencil work on hot press watercolor paper. This type of paper can take many layers and make it possible to capture fine details in order to create a soft look.
"Gracie" (Superstar competitor)
Gracie is a super fun and talented dog who excels at scent work and has achieved many titles in competition. I chose Grafix drafting film as the working surface because one can use subtraction techniques to create wavy fur in the ears and coat. I use a Tombo eraser and a Slice tool to create the illusion of white hairs and a 3D effect. This surface is also double-sided so it is possible to achieve more depth by coloring the back of the film.
